But you do require to take the battery out to charge it, as it was seen in other reviews. Can’t push them without shaking the digital camera and automobile-stabilization does not compensate for that significantly (specially annoying for even now shots). Not a huge issue for me though. . And you require to search quite meticulously at the digital camera to understand exactly where all the slots are concealed, but, hey, Sanyo had quite small room to perform with when designing this kind of a minor digital camera – can not blame them. So I guess it is a fashionable little camera. Film trasfer is quite easy with Windows 7 – you just take the card out and plug it into your Computer. 1 considerably severe drawback is the place of recording buttons, as it was pointed out in earlier critiques. My girlfriend by no means liked taking video cameras with us to trip trips as they wherever also bulky to carry all around and distorted her “type” . &#13Overal, wonderful encounter. Adjusts to changes in light conditions extremely speedily and efficiently, resolution is just what they promise in its specs. Did not assume that on a pocket camera. I’ve had a couple of cameras, including Sanyo and Sony and this 1 surprisingly came out on leading with respect to picture good quality for the two video and even now pictures. . They also managed to squize all connection ports proper into the digital camera – no want for a docking station, when connecting to a Tv. . Just before it arrived, I was a bit sceptic about such a characteristic-wealthy camera getting so little and inexpensive. Display is excellent – you can in fact appreciate HD image top quality on it by some means. Video slot cover, battery cover and SD slot cover feel rather thin and you are afraid to break them when taking them out or putting them back, but so far they turned out to be fairly sound, in fact. This one particular, nevertheless, she loved and employs it all the time. Handles outside and indoors shooting really nicely. But you get utilised to that immediately after a whilst (just hold the digital camera with the two hands when beginning/stopping the recording)

It could have employed greater gripping material and a minor alter in the form to grip onto the digital camera far better as other folks have said. I adore the size of the camcorder and utilizing the SDHC memory cards and it will make it simpler for vacations, and so forth. To zoom I have to use my other hand as it is also difficult with the grip the way it is but that is not a difficulty for me. I got the Sandisk Ultra II per Amazon’s recommendation that turned out to be the renamed Sandisk Ultra per Beach Camera – see my evaluation on that. I’m not positive about the 8 megapixel claim on the nevertheless pics, but that is why I have a digital digital camera wherever 5-6 megapixels is good adequate for me. As I use it more, I will comment on it later. . This is what I identified in my quick month of testing and making use of the camcorder: Because of it is small lens (I am assuming), it does not let adequate light in for indoor shooting so some shots could be darker indoors or it may take time to modify to the indoor lighting so the subject getting shot becomes far more clear. If you have a regular hand and scan the scenery slowly, it appears quite great. I also have not employed other compact camcorders so perhaps they have the identical issues as this one. Outside, the video comes out really well! I observed that due to the fact of it’s small dimension and the shakiness of one’s hand, the video comes out shaky/jerky and does not look like the picture stablization can compensate for this. For the value, the tiny compact size, and getting HD on top rated of that created this my choice to get as my compact camcorder for vacations, and so on. &#13Overall, I guess I couldn’t have anticipated much a lot more (but was hoping) for the price tag and size of the camcorder

Even at Full HD 1080, I can say I was disappointed. It defeats the purpose of the digital camera function all with each other. The images are no very good. &#13The 1 issue I thought was amazing was the 3D sound. &#13With all that said I had to send the camera back. I waited two months for this camera to come out. End outcome you get grainy images that you can do nothing at all with. Sanyo advertises that the photos are 8mp, but once I started reading by means of the manual I discovered the digital camera is take 3mp images and converting them to 8mp size. When making an attempt to perform them back on my Personal computer or television I was dissappointed with the grainy video clips. &#13I also observed the video skips when trying to playback in Media Player. Using the software package that came with the camera things played fine. &#13The video clips are very great when playing them back on the camera. The search and experience is superb. That was incredibly irritating. I will probably go with the Kodak Playsport which is 0 cheaper and is waterproof. I was amazed at how the audio playback came across when taking part in it on my surround sound. &#13I kept this digital camera for 50 days ahead of I had to send it back.

The 60fps settings on the two the 1080i and 720i have been far better than the 1080p 30fps and 720p 30fps settings. What I CAN do, is splice the mpeg four clips with each other in the camera (quite simple to do!) and/or edit them in camera, and then burn up to the DVD. I was seeking for a camcorder that tooks fantastic video, was transportable and took good still pictures. &#13I need to inform you that I am a skilled wedding photographer (still photos, 14 years) so that you have a reference point of who’s telling you what. Even so, if program on purchasing the 1010 to videotape your youthful young children or children’s sports, I don’t suggest this camera. ) The video’s that I’ve employed have come from point and shoot cameras that took good video clips. Most of my videos are taken at wide or mid variety (travel, scenic footage and household gatherings). 2. If you use excellent methods for regular subjects your videos will be fine. I shot twelve minutes of a family members birthday celebration making use of the methods I described and my videos had been fine, no “motion sickness video clips”. He’s a computer/techie specialist and we looked together and both agreed on the very same things. I received the Sanyo HD 1010 3 days ago, and had the whole weekend to play close to with it. &#13The reason this camcorder is not for absolutely everyone is the poor picture stabilization. Because I could only base my determination on the 4 critiques that I read right here (which did aid immensely), I believed I’d share my opinion of this camcorder to aid other potential buyers make up their thoughts. It really is not Hi-def top quality, but it is DVD top quality and nonetheless greater than any other house video that I have. Even so, the 1010 does take great stills (a minor oversaturated, but fairly acceptable). It produces gorgeous video clips, much better than any camcorder I’ve ever owned. As other individuals have explained, I can not view the footage at standard speed (views jerky) on my Pc(windows XP, laptop, dual core), but I can even now burn it un-edited to a DVD which plays beautifully. &#13Ok, my observations:&#13*As I mentioned, I enjoy this merchandise. I’m positive you techies know). That’s in which a excellent optical image stabilizer will shine. &#13My wife and I enjoy to travel. Understand that I am not replacing my even now camera (the Canon G7 is my travel camera) and don’t recommend anybody to substitute their still camera with this all in one particular camcorder. I genuinely need to have to do some much more comparisons with IS on, but this is my original impression. ) With the software package(Nero that comes packaged with the product, I am in a position to burn up a regular DVD taken from 1080i 60fps footage. You can constantly down convert, but you cannot upconvert. Most men and women have a tendency to overuse the zoom lens and pan also rapidly. It’s smoother. . I’ve looked at the Canon HF a hundred and the Samsung HMX20C and they are also small, but the 1010 just feels smaller sized to me and much more portable. I attempted all the diverse high quality settings and made a decision to stick with the 1080i 60fps as my permanent setting.

Examine much more. But the cause I am going to leave it on the highest quality is two factors: one. You shouldn’t rely on the picture stabilization as a crutch. When I do pan, I hold the camcorder as regular as feasible and Slowly pan, practically exaggerated. The 1080i and 720i at 60fps are very near in good quality on the Large Def set, but on my 36 inch Sony, the 720i when panned had some artifacts (do not know why didn’t happen on the Hi-def set. ) You ought to usually record at the finest setting. On this setting, I didn’t see any artifacts, or lagging, when panning with picture stabilization (IS) off. The 1010 does just that. . The image good quality (from the point and shoot cameras) is definitely not as very good as mini DV, which the PC9 is, but it was usually there for the taking. (I like to have a camera that I can place on my belt clip or is light sufficient to dangle from my neck. I do this whether or not or not the camcorder has picture stabilization. I know everybody makes a massive deal about the 1080p setting, but 60fps Looks much better. I only recently grew to become interested in shooting much better high quality video as the dimension of these new camcorders have come down just lately. I looked at my brother in law’s HI Def Sony with him. You clearly can only use one particular camera at a time, so when you are using the 1010 and want to snap a rapid photograph although you happen to be shooting video or you end shooting video, it is great to know you can get a decent picture with this camcorder. Even so, this camcorder is not for every person-you must decide what you strategy on utilizing the camera for prior to deciding to buy (see under, two paragraphs down). I don’t have time anyway to edit video clips on a Pc. I own a Sony PC9 which was a fantastic camcorder in its day, but it has stayed at home the last five many years. For the last few weeks I have been searching for as a lot of reviews as I could on the Sanyo HD 1010 to support me make a selection on which camcorder to buy. &#13The rapid answer: For my purposes, I love this camcorder. If the 1010 had optical image stabilization, it would be hands down best! Does this ruin it for me? NO

I have not informed anybody how to use it. Sort of a looking at the camera, blair witch kinda shot. I have put the camera in six diverse peoples hands and they all stated it felt great right after holding it for a couple of minutes. I have only had it a tiny over 24 hrs but so far it has been unbelievable. You just have to discover a way that it is comfy for your hand dimension. Everything I expected when I ordered it has been drastically exceeded. everything focused perfectly. Dark rooms, outdoors, inside with fluorescent bulbs, you name it the photographs have been greater than what I expected. They turned out greater than any digital camera I have ever used, albeit I have often used far more of the personal point and shoot olympus / nikon kind. If the viewing screen would rotate to the front I could hold the camera in front of me, search at the screen and know I am in focus / in the shot, and make a quickie recording. &#13UPDATE&#13——-&#13thanks to everyone who pointed out you can rotate the lens to the front. &#13Pros: &#13light weight&#13intuitive menu technique&#13REALLY great screen&#134MP digital camera&#13full HD camcorder&#13can take nonetheless photos although creating a film (I enjoy this function!!!)&#13the WOW aspect, due to the fact each-time I pull it out to use every person about me goes WOW, what kind of camera is that. Wonderful camera, ease of use, good quality of the merchandise all round, and in the end high quality of the films it can make. &#13Comparing it to all of the complaints of the HD1000, I can say everything that was complained about in the HD1000 has been fixed. It actually is exciting to use. thats the absolute worst thing about the camera so far. you cant go incorrect. I have identified a way to make it ft nicely in my hand, but if the grip was either more substantial or came with, say, a plastic extender maybe that you could place on the bottom it would be excellent. This camcorder exceeded even my highest expectations. no a single believes me its a HD camcorder!&#13so light and small it can match in your vehicle/purse/back-pocket/pez dispenser. Its uncommon to discover a thing electronic that any person can use with no instructions given and the HD1010 is one thing you can use straight out of the box. I am extremely picky when it comes to electronics, and I am amazed at what they have accomplished with this camcorder/camera. &#13The camera requires wonderful pictures also. By that I imply all of the autofocus troubles I go through about with the HD1000 have been resolved. I was ready to change my camera and add a HD camcorder for a reasonable quantity. Sanyo even admitted that this is not supposed to be a whole new model, only a upgrade to the HD1000. ‘ With no instructions every person has taken both movies, pictures, and had smiles while doing it. &#13screen rotation – the one particular and only issue , if I were the designers of the HD1010 that I would change (and now you are going to see how nitpicky I am being). . &#13bottom line, if you are seeking at getting a camcorder, this one particular deserves a close search. Just handed it to them and said ‘I just got a new camera, try out it out and see what you think. &#13grip – I would like to have observed the grip location be a bit greater. the interface is extremely intuitive, the movie good quality is, as far as I have observed, unsurpassed in a camcorder this size and value, and is almost everything its advertised to be (and then some). I’ve tried low light, vivid light, moving subjects, even the fan in my living room. as a matter of simple fact I couldnt MAKE it have a focusing dilemma. . &#13Like I explained, I have had 6 other men and women try out utilizing it, from my girlfriend with truly modest hands to a guy I operate with who is 6’7″ and has Andre the giant hands and they have all loved it. I was wrong about that, you can! effectively, that quite much zero’s out the issue I wanted them to adjust so, my new complaint is that it doesnt come with Kevin Smith to make better motion pictures with it . It only rotates to the top and bottom, not to the front. just a wishlist factor. &#13cons:&#13price – for me this wasnt a concern

The Sanyo film is really jittery. Sanyo supports 720p but it uses 30 fps, not 24 fps. . For comparison the Canon HF10 has optical image stabilization and it has a 24 fps mode, both of which would have helped me. It is easy adequate to convert employing iTunes, but it will take a prolonged time. It was tiny, effortlessly fit in the jeans pocket, the image top quality was good for an SD camera, and most importantly, no post-processing was required! All you had to do was drag &amp drop files from the camera to the computer. Now the Sony and Sanyo quality seemed comparable. This is with Sanyo’s image stabilization on, and with zoom set to 1x. But the big distinction was in image stabilization. This camera built a large variation. AppleTV expects 720p 24 fps (frames per 2nd). In fact the Sanyo seemed to have more precise colour. I didn’t know how great Sony’s image stabilization was till I compared it to the Sanyo. Needless to say, since of the trouble I wasn’t creating extremely many house movies. I then decided to examine the HD1010 with my outdated Sony HDR-HC1. I encoded the Sony footage into H. But after yet again I wasn’t producing extremely many films because HDR-HC1 is tape based, which indicates a time-consuming approach is needed to transfer the movie and to encode to H. &#13Bottom line: I am a small disappointed since the camera is larger and heavier than the Xacti C4, the files are not instantly compatible with AppleTV, and most importantly the image stabilization is poor, which implies you have to use a tripod. No waiting for the tape to wind. My very first HD camera was Sony HDR-HC1. 264 MP4 format. The difficulty with DV camcorders is that it is time-consuming to (1) import the film into the pc and (two) encode it into a appropriate format. To watch the film on Television all I had to do is drop the file into iTunes, then wirelessly stream the film to AppleTV. The resulting file is 960×540 not 1280×720 since iTunes offers priority to preserving the fps and at 30 fps AppleTV only supports 960×540. But that was the raw uncompressed footage. For HD camcorders stabilization is critical, and the HD1010 disappoints in this division. &#13My first impression when I got the HD1010 was that it is greater and heavier than I anticipated. I held the Sony in a single hand and the Sanyo in the other and concurrently shot check footages making use of both cameras, in a semi-lowlight circumstance. I was not impressed with the image good quality. &#13Then HD cameras became readily available. &#13Another disappointment was that though the MP4 files from the Sanyo are compatible with QuickTime they are not compatible with AppleTV. Then I purchased an Xacti C4. 264 and adjusted the bitrate so that the resulting file is about the same dimension as the 1 from Sanyo. This is not a massive camera by any signifies, but my expectations were set by the tiny Xacti C4, and compared to that camera the HD1010 looks large and hefty. As a end result the file has to be converted just before becoming streamed to AppleTV. For comparison Sony charges further for a soft situation for their competing HDR-TG1. The Canon is more pricey but it has 16GB of internal memory which HD1010 does not. Prior to HD camcorders grew to become accessible I had a DV (tape primarily based normal definition) camcorder. It does not get any less complicated than this. Fine facts seemed to be missing apparently due to heavy noise-reduction. No re-encoding essential both because the file format is already MP4. It won’t match in my jeans pocket either (in contrast to the Sony HDR-TG1, the smallest HD camcorder readily available right now. That is a rather decent camera. )&#13What about image good quality? I shot a check footage in very low light. So I bought an Xacti HD1010 hoping to repeat my achievement with the outdated Xacti C4 but in HD this time. &#13I like the fact that this camera comes with a soft situation. Initially the Sony appeared to have significantly far better image good quality

This is not the case with the Sony HDR-CX560V, even so. 9Mbps 1440×1080)&#13- LP Mode: Approx. Possibly I had let client advertising and marketing mislead me about the new line of HD camcorders. I’ve played with this choice a tiny but never personally care for it. Very remarkable.

Study far more. . What does this indicate in plain English? Basically if you’re organizing on burning a Blu-Ray disc with 60p files you will have to render them down 1st. five Mbit/s for error correction. Of course the CX560V provides you the choice to shoot in numerous diverse modes. Humorous how it looked so significantly heftier on websites. On opening the factory sealed Sony Handycam box I was met with a tiny, plastic, piano black camcorder. Flash-primarily based camcorders have made a quantum leap from in which they have been just a couple of short a long time ago. Buyer Video Review Length:: :25 MinsMy initial impression of the Sony HDR-CX560V wasn’t satisfying. five Mbit/s for audio and 8. At the current time Blu-Ray &amp even AVCHD discs themselves don’t assistance the 1080 60p files. Are the bitrates as high as MiniDV? How numerous Mbit/s do they use? Are the AVCHD files as difficult to perform with in editing as reported? Effectively, let’s take one thing at a time. Coming from the line of Sony MiniDV camcorders I’ve shot on for above a decade this light-weight contraption I held in my hands looked &amp felt more like a toy than a high finish Sony Handycam. No, the Mbit/s on this model aren’t as high as MiniDV. This is a lossy compression algorithm a la MPEG-two at a bit price of 35 Mbit/s. Even so flash-memory camcorders have not only stuck all around, they’ve evolved substantially. Considering that its arrival in 1995 the DV format has proven itself trustworthy among each novices &amp experts in the video scene. . I then save the authentic 60p file to an external challenging drive for an optimum master copy. . Recording time on internal 64GB memory is as follows:- PS Mode: five Hours &amp 15 Minutes&#13- FX Mode: six Hrs &amp 10 Minutes&#13- FH Mode: eight Hrs &amp 25 Minutes&#13- HQ Mode: 11. Flash-based mostly camcorders are all over the place &amp spreading. Perhaps it was a error to sell off 1 of my older MiniDV camcorders in favor of this new flash-based mostly model. The technological innovation is in iPods, smartphones, pocket camcorders, racing cams and even crucial chains. To me the completed product merely has a slo-mo impact, not really a film-like effect. Even so, this is a personalized preference, other individuals could disagree &amp appreciate utilizing it. After shooting an hour prolonged sunset (see attached video) on this recording level I accumulated an AVCHD file of just below 12GB. Taking all this into consideration it’s essential to note that Sony no lengthier develops MiniDV Handycam camcorders. As talked about earlier MiniDV employs a complete of 35 Mbit/s 25 of which are devoted to video. Probably this subtle hint is an early warning sign for the possible fate of MiniDV engineering altogether? Regardless, the argument at this point in time is compression troubles with flash-memory camcorders. But acceptance does not constantly mean greater top quality. As you can see the Sony HDR-CX560V is actually neck &amp neck with MiniDV footage in terms of megabytes. For individuals wondering the MiniDV footage I’ve employed more than the many years would be everywhere among 10 to 15GBs per hour upon uploading to my laptop or computer. Soon after acquiring past the overall plastic sense of the unit I was impressed with it really is efficiency. 5Mbps (1440×1080)&#13- STD HQ Mode: 9Mbps (720×480)The Sony HDR-CX560V also provides you the choice of shooting in 24p (to replicate film) with a 1920×1080 pixel ratio. It should be noted, nonetheless, AVCHD files recorded at 60p have no true output source other than viewing on a Computer. For anyone even considerably interested in camcorders &amp video editing software package it really is inevitable to catch wind of the ongoing battle against flash memory &amp MiniDV. This mixed with the dependability of a sixteen year track record helps make MiniDV very the heavyweight. One particular doesn’t have to appear far to witness what is quickly turning out to be an electronic epidemic. That 35 Mbit/s is comprised of about 25 Mbit/s for video, one. I assume we can all agree DVD &amp HDD camcorders had been a bad thought, fading from the scene nearly entirely. These incorporate:- FX Mode: Approx. 24Mbps (1920×1080)&#13- FH Mode: Approx. This nonetheless tends to make for a quite powerful master copy which proves extremely convenient in post production editing. ahead of using it. Even right after the footage was rendered a few occasions &amp sped up to compensate for time the video nonetheless seems decent (as demonstrated in the attached video). Even though extended rumored to capture video in an uncompressed format, MiniDV is truly compressed employing DCT compression. Using Sony Vegas Pro 10 I have no trouble importing these files then rendering them onto Blu-Ray in 60i. At least that’s what I believed. The HDR-CX560V utilizes a highest of 28mbps on the 60p setting. In all honesty it typically times just implies hype. 17Mbps (1920×1080)&#13- HQ Mode: Approx.

&#13A couple of of the factors I didn’t like about this camcorder is that at times the touch display can be unresponsive at time. The setup is fairly straight forward but I find myself referring to the manual when I want to do special items like change the scene. You would want yet another system to convert these files if you want to use/view them in imovie. If recording in 24p is not a thing you really need to have, then I would suggest going with the HDR-CX550&#13. Anyone wanting to record their very own activities would be joyful with this device. I absolutely adore the video and audio top quality that is made. When shooting in quite low light conditions, I was not impressed with the Back-illuminated “Exmor R” CMOS sensor. Even so, this is such an superb camcorder that overcoming these drawbacks is effectively really worth the superior video footage you get. Possibly I was expecting to capture footage beyond 8 feet but it works wonderful if your topic is significantly less than eight feet away. Products that I wish were included would be a Mini HDMI cable. As you know, the CD that comes with this camcorder is not compatible with a Mac. &#13A word of caution for Mac users, you will be challenging pressed using this device. I want to commence off by saying this is an outstanding camcorder. I locate myself pushing the identical button a handful of times prior to the camcorder register it. &#13Overall, this is a top rated notch item. The software program guys did an superb work with separating out all of the various functions. I never know. It really is supposed to do this instantly but I have but to see my device modify its setting from default immediately. Without having this cable you will be forced to use the part video for playback on HDTV sets. You can nearly get away with no ever using the user manual if you just want to do basic items. This is not a key concern but it does occur from time to time. I’m new to the camcorder world so maybe eight feet is superb. I am also extremely impressed with the Optical steadyshot characteristic. If you’re going to be walking close to or recording a live sporting game then this is a need to have characteristic. Furthermore, the specified video formats is not compatible with imovie both

The screen can be hard to see in the glare. It can make is simple to hook up to my pc and transfer the vidoes. I have smaller sized hands and even I occasionally have to push on the screen icons a handful of instances to get them to “select”. I am averaging about 2. Also, I would really recommend getting a greater battery. To do over, I will even now obtain this camera in spite of those cons. &#13With your obtain I really advocate a greater battery, a situation, an HDMI Cable with ethernet A-C form (this allows you to easily hook up the camcorder and play it back on your HD devices and is NOT incorporated in the box from the factory) and the sony Shooting Grip (when once more, I have tiny hands and am shaky and it can help out tremendously). Also, I wish this model, like the 550v would have the view finder. It captures sound wonderfully and it files the vidoes nicely for playback. Our property tends to be dimly lit in most of the rooms and the camcorder has accomplished exceedingly nicely in these problems. The camera is also rather simple to use. I did tons of study on cameras prior to getting and I produced the choice in between this, the Canon Vixia HF21, and the Panasonic HDC-TM700K. &#13I wanted the following attributes in a new camera: HD, reduced lux abilities, ease of use, shake reduction and huge quantity of flash memory. &#13Overall, I price this camera a four star. . &#13Some cons of this camcorder are: The display can be a small touchy to use. I also really like the constructed-in USB. I am by no means a skilled videographer and I can point and shoot great vidoes with just a push of the “record” button. I knocked it a tiny due to the display, the view finder and the stock battery. Playback on our 56″ bigscreen in HD seems brilliant. &#13Mostly all of my videos so far have been indoors. Also, I have a tendency to be very shaky while filming and the vibration reduction in this camera is superb. 5 hours of HD record time with it – and this is contemplating it is brand spanking new. When I got it, I began using it quickly to film some property motion pictures of our new kid (6 weeks old). The FV50 does not final an extremely lengthy sum of time. I purchased the Sony HDR-CX560v on March 30th and received it April 1st

even now checking it out). &#13Very impressed. . I adore this camera. &#13You can’t rest the camera on your shoulder, but the picture stabilizer aids and the grip and buttons are all properly intended and effortless to attain. If you never have a lot of expertise with prosumer cameras (as in my case), the first search may possibly be a bit intimidating (a friend explained, “It appears like you happen to be filming television news”). I struggled by way of the manual, but fortunately purchased Dan Curran’s dvd about the xh-a1 which appears to be almost identical. I cannot recommend it sufficient if you are at all uncertain of what you’re seeking at. He goes by means of the simplest issues (putting the shoulder strap on) to some extremely technical settings that you can do. . &#13This camera feels like a terrific instrument that can do whatever you need and the image high quality–even on Car–is gorgeous. This was a -huge- aid. &#13Technology has modified so significantly in the 20 years given that I was in film college–and it is nonetheless tough for me to think that such a great camera, capable of this sort of a quality product, is readily available for beneath 00. The versatility and design truly meets such a selection of demands–way too a lot machine/cost for “residence video” (it’s not the type of camera individuals neglect is pointing at them), but excellent if you want to shoot instruction films, web movies, independent films. The dvd saved me -so significantly- mastering time and also prevented some careless mistakes (like letting sunlight by means of the viewfinder). Especially as I additional a Rode shotgun mike (not positive it does anything at all other than make the sound louder, but. . Getting the two XLR terminals will make a huge distinction, also. Very suggested

&#13 I’ve used it mostly on automated setting so far as the the music festival was taking place only days after receiving this camera but the small bit I’ve played about on manual setting guarantees unparalleled versatility, i am quite excited. A tip for the novice to substantial-def recording- maintaining the lens clean and checking it often is a must. . No other camera offers this. Get a lens filter kit and the broad angle and telephoto adapters and you happen to be prepared to create anything you can envision. Canon XH-A1S 3CCD HDV Substantial Definition Expert Camcorder with 20x HD Video Zoom Lens III&#13 What can I say except this camera is the only a single that offers every thing you need to have in this value range. The tiniest speck of dust appears enormous on playback. What truly sets it apart is the two xlr inputs on the side enabling two microphones to capture sound, and it switchable amongst external and internal mics, or use both simultaneously. &#13 I not too long ago filmed a music festival making use of this camera for extended shots, near-ups, cutaways, and static shots, every little thing looks incredible

&#13Now that becoming mentioned if it wasn’t for all the manual settings and adjustments I would not want it anyway. &#13The picture good quality is practically the very same so for a two camera shoot it really is fantastic. &#13Also the car focus is extremely rapid and genuinely comes in useful when you have to run and gun so to speak. &#13Although it really is about half of the weight of it really is big brother the XLH1 it really is nonetheless a minor tough to hold regular given that you can not rest it on your shoulder but the picture stabilization is very useful. . This camera is not for the novice by any signifies since after you step out of the automobile almost everything mode it can be very complicated. &#13All in all this is a wonderful camera with a wonderful picture and I merely adore it. &#13I have a Canon XLH1 and this camera helps make the excellent workmate for it

The reason I bought this camcorder was since I necessary an HD camcorder to shoot video clips to YouTube. I wouldn’t advocate adjusting these controls except if you know what shifting them will do. You can manually adjust the concentrate, aperture, and shutter controls. The camcorder tends to search like it is shaking when you’re zoomed in all the way. It is not the finest software package but you genuinely never want to use the software included with the camcorder to pull any video clips from the camcorder or to edit any of the video. &#13One downside I have is with the software program that is integrated. One more downside I have is with the picture stabilization at long range. &#13UPDATE one: I just lately looked into the menu alternatives and discovered that this camera has manual controls to modify the top quality of the picture or video you take. This camcorder also shoots good even now images at two megapixels but I would advocate only utilizing this for video clips as it was not meant to be used as a camera to take photos. Another issue that is remarkable about this camera is the battery daily life. I was able to get a minor over 3 hrs of battery life out of 1 battery. This camcorder can be described in one word, Amazing!!!. First off, I wanna say that I was shocked when I opened the box and found a carrying case, a mini HDMI cable, a spare battery, and a 1 GB SD card that came with the camcorder and just receiving the further battery alone was really worth it. The camcorder adjusts very speedily and is total up to par with some higher-finish HD camcorders. . &#13Overall, this camcorder is really worth the money you will commit on it but it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the higher-end HD camcorders from Sony and Canon. I have been in a position to get some thing up to 1 centimeter away from the lens and it will still focus This camcorder has quite very good autofocus for currently being at this low price. I see it as a plus that Sanyo really consists of the added carrying situation, mini HDMI cable, spare battery, and one GB SD card. Hopefully this assessment will support everyone in their determination towards buying this camera. I wanna keep this assessment short and straightforward but I hope it assists. the only plus about the software package is that it has export to Youtube which is okay if you just send the video with no any form of editing. &#13One major plus about this camcorder is its autofocus capabilities. This camera shoots in 1280×720 HD at 30 FPS and seems very crisp when playing back on your HDTV with the included Mini HDMI cable. Charging these batteries takes about two-three hours

After performing significantly soul browsing as effectively as researching for the best bargain camcorder, I settled on this 1. The video high quality is really great and it focuses speedily. . Following getting it and shooting tests clips for over a week, I can’t locate anything disappointing with this obtain. You will want a trip pod to stablize the camera when making use of the 30x opital zoom, darn close to impossible to hold regular without getting a wobble. The plus was it came with added battery and all the cables you would want

This camcorder is wonderful! I does precisely what I expected and much more. . The cost is wonderful. I undoubtedly suggest this camera. Awesome that it comes with two batteries, A/V cable, HDMI cable, USB cable, charger, 1GB SD card, and a case. I’ve played close to with it for a whilst and the only problem I can come across is that when you zoom in with the 30x optical, it is difficult to retain a steady hand, but that is the identical with any camera

I’m basically a point and shoot kind of buyer that desires a very good quality camcorder for recording our families actions. I could not get the Patriot 16GB memory card to operate constantly. The movement detection may possibly be handy at one thing like a basketball game wherever you would point it at a single end of the court and only capture the action when it is on that finish. I am an amateur when it comes to cameras, camcorders and the like. The two other functions – the time elapse and the motion detection the two operate really properly, although outdoors of surveillance I am not sure what the use of either is. Although I’m sure the videos are not the highest of hi-def possible maintain in thoughts this is a 0 and alter camcorder. This is an outstanding camcorder for the money! First and foremost it takes very excellent quality videos. . The only con I had with the camera wasn’t actually the camera’s fault. The video high quality far outshines your normal camcorder. I bought the Transcend cards and they perform completely

Really should truly Consist of HDMI CABLE. ” Rather misleading. &#13This gets 2 stars, a single for excellent zoom and a single for time-lapse. . they could incorporate one particular for really affordable, because they would be getting them in bulk at possibly 50 cents apiece. This is an HD cam, WHY oh WHY would I EVER select to use an RCA cable to watch it??? I can’t even tell you if it requires decent hi-def video because I can not hook it up properly to my HD tv. &#13Outside, this takes great video, assuming there is lots of light. I have ordered the Sanyo FH1a as an alternative, which has a A lot greater sensor, and is in fact Cheaper now than this JVC! Whatever you do, watch some youtube videos displaying demo videos of the actuall camcorder you want to acquire, Before you obtain. . The video looks like the sample pic in their description that exhibits what it must NOT search like. There is no way this could ever take great video in low or moderate light. they do not come right out and say “oh but by the way, it only records in 1080i. . This camcorder seemed like a great deal, with a 20x optical zoom, HD filming, Time-Lapse, and CLAIMS of super very low-light performance. This point has a TEENY TINY little sensor. To use it for this purpose, I would require to invest in numerous industrial-strength halogen lights and aim them all at the baby at the identical time to illuminate him enough. . . &#13I returned this the day after I bought it. I tested it indoors initial at Best-Acquire, but they have those extremely bright ceiling lights, so I was unaware of how negative this cam really is. Interlaced, and not total accurate 1080p. . Why not have a time-driven technique that only turns on the camera for a handful of seconds at a time, which would vastly enhance the battery existence???&#13This camera is HD, but it is 1080(i). &#13Reality: Reduced-Light efficiency is TERRIBLE !!! Horribly grainy images in even moderate lighting. Inside at evening, with typical lighting from three overhead lights plus a lamp on, the video is grainy and washed out. &#13The time-lapse feature appears awesome at first, but it sucks down the battery quite speedily, unless it is plugged in. It does come with a RCA sort connector and usb cable. . But this cam actually is one hundred% worthless indoors. The display must be kept open while filming or else the camera will shut off. The description is misleading when it states that it can Play BACK in 1080p. &#13This cam does not come with a HDMI cable (most in this price tag range don’t, either). I bought this to take video of my soon-to-be-born 1st child, which will be largely indoors with standard lighting

The software enables for some output possibilities, but the . . The timelapse function was the primary aspect in my search, but don’t feel that I sacrificed significantly else in this decision (except for horrible low-light sensitivity). &#13My only genuine regret about this camera is the output file format. . I am nevertheless not certain if full HD playback is potential without the camera as the player. The software assumes that you will be burning the videos onto DVD, which is OK if you don’t care for HD. This is the largest difficulty with the JVC GZ-HM300. &#13If I’m wrong, please an individual set me straight. &#13Good zoom, superb resolution, and excellent battery life. mts file format is not compatible with most apps. Now, if I can only get that HD video out into the genuine planet. It was a challenging decision, but I feel confident that I purchased the correct camcorder. . Apparently, the HD output will not be as very good as what you see thru the camera playback. There are some conversion programs out there that will let the video clips to be edited with the popular editing apps, but I do not however have any expertise with this kind of conversions

&#13Some of the dislikes I want that it utilized a constructed an integrated lens cover, as the 1 that it comes with does not come with any mechanism to attach the lens cover and probably will be the 1st factor lost. If you are simply going to upload and send videos as is, then it will meet the minimal specifications. The Zoom is amazing, up to about 150 you get great quality, above that it gets truly grainy and is useless, there are three possibilities you can set for the default zoom functions when recording video, 20X optical. &#13Purchased this for my daughter, needed some thing easy to use but excellent good quality. Attempted the FLIP-UltraHD, due to not having a image stabilizer took it back and bought the JVC HM320. . This unit has 8GB built in, good addition as proper out of the box you have 40 mins of HD recording, far more if you record at reduced resolutions. The photo snapshot element would seem to take good pictures when viewed from the camcorder, but when transferred to a Pc they of poor good quality, could be operator error, but if so it should not be this difficult. gives always excellent top quality, 80x Digital, and 200x Digital. The camera menu is much less than intuitive, but is even now good. Also the un-zoomed view has a very narrow variety which tends to make indoor shooting a bit tricky, which perhaps the cause they offer a wide-angle conversion lens. Video clips can be displayed straight to Pc by way of USB, straight to Tv utilizing AV cable, Element Cable(not incorporated), MiniHD cable (not integrated), all of which give outstanding final results . Advocate setting to 80x Digital, this gets you fantastic zoom, but limits the zoom function to avoid getting into poor high quality. with miniHD, and AV cable. The Image Stabilization is ok, but you nonetheless want to be steady when filming particularly when zoomed in. &#13Overall great worth. . The Everio software program is significantly less than desirable as in addition to trimming a video has not editing functions. Likes: Camera size and compactness, Car Record function, Time Lapse Recording, HD high quality, Zoom, Sound high quality, image stabilization, 8GB constructed in memory with extra SD Slot&#13Dislikes: Camera menu is cumbersome, incorporated Everio Software package, no remote management function, photo snapshot function, no integrated lens cover. &#13

Its impossible to do a issue with it. It gets relatively grainy following dark, but great in other conditions&#13-Paint scratches after a whilst only minor cosmetic damages, nonetheless looks very good soon after a slide on the concrete. :&#13-The editing software package it comes with is crap. . &#13*You can get the video clips into an additional format effortlessly. Any pre-shot clips cannot be formatted with no converting software. or FORMAT SD CARD, you can format it differently so that you are capable to upload your clips to Windows Movie Maker, Sony Vegas, Adobe Premiere seven, eight,or 9, or iMovie. . . . . I got this camcorder for Christmas a although back. following that it gets really tough to focus goes up to 200x didgital&#13-Compact and lightweight&#13-Straightforward to use&#13-Great 37mm threads for pro lenses &#13-Accepts strong, extended lasting batteries. &#13-Is not effortless to upload video clips to other editing softwares*. see beneath to see how!&#13-Manual lens cap will be the first factor lost, i know it. &#13-A bit small for people of you with significant hands. the VG-121 Information Battery to be exact&#13-BEASTLY AUDIO. YOU HAVE TO FORMAT THE VIDEO Just before YOU SHOOT. Here’s a list of pro’s and cons about the camcorder:&#13PROS:&#13-Light fat&#13-Captures beautiful 1080p video in excellent light&#13-Remarkable zoom- Fine up to 80x. . It sounds so great, wind cut genuinely helps!&#13CONS:&#13-The reduced-light functionality deserves a “meh”. I was really glad to find Amazon had lowered the price tag more than half its retail price! I assume this camcorder is superb for folks just wanting to document their experiences in hi-def. . . Anyways, if you go to the major menu, scroll down all the way, and pick MEDIA SETTINGS, then scroll down this menu to FORMAT Built-IN MEM.

&#13The sound good quality is fine. &#13If I required a new camera, I would gladly get this one particular. . Nonetheless, the camera is very intuitive and performed excellently. That’s not the best time to understand. The battery existence is shorter than advertised, but that’s correct for any camera. My son was able to shoot most of a day at Disney World with a single battery. They did not perform with it until finally they had been on their honeymoom. Very low light does not provide the exact same wonderful top quality as excellent light does, but it is fine also. &#13Lots of the controls are on the viewing display which is actually cool. Like any other camera, if you zoom out too far, you truly ought to use a tripod. This camera was a present to my son and his new wife. &#13The camera is extremely tiny, but fits nicely in the hand

&#13I have 16 GB card so i can record up to 2 hours of video or above 4000 still photos. &#13The outcomes are good even when viewed on a 40 in 1080i Television. &#13So far I have utilised it to take each Hi Definition movies and nonetheless images. &#13No supplied software program. . It appears to be limited near to 1 hour with the supplied 700 MAH battery. &#13CONS&#13Still images taken at short distances( Below six feet) display fish eye distortions. This can be corrected by software package such as Photoshop Elements. I bought this dual camera due to the fact i am going on a cruise, and I did not want to be burdened by a lot of equipment. &#13Please note that the resolution can be decreased by the user. &#13Battery life could be much better. &#13Does not perform as a Computer Camera with the Mac

I’ll give the Sanyo to a relative. (Any version of Film Maker for XP or Vista will not perform with the mpeg4 format. . This won’t replace your digital SLR camera if you’ve got 1. &#13Quality of even now images is poor, but that’s not unusual for a camcorder. The camera will have to be stabilized on a tripod if you happen to be making use of the zoom function. I was seeking for an choice to the “Flip” camera at about the same value. The Sanyo camera will give you far better high quality video at a similar value. This was the major promoting point: Flip cameras offer no image stabilization, so slight shaking of the hand, specifically when panning, is a issue. &#13I’ve decided to swap this camera for the Panasonic HDC-TM55 which at a higher price tag tag (about 0) provides an optical (fairly than digital) image stabilization characteristic that will preserve the video stable even when you’re using the optical zoom. ) If this is your scenario, AVS sells an inexpensive video format conversion system which is easy to use. &#13CONS&#13Image stabilization, whilst good at typical concentrate, is ineffective when you use the digial zoom (up to 5x), so videos will appear quite shaky even with slight movement. This is why the Flip line of camcorders is so appealing: they come with their very own editing software and are basically plug-and-perform. &#13PROS&#13Good digital image stabilization at typical focus. &#13Note that video on Sanyo cameras is saved in mpeg4 format which signifies (given that there is no included editing software) you are going to need to convert the files to WMV or one more format if you want to use Windows Movie Maker to edit the file. &#13LCD display does not show well in brilliant light. I bought the VPC-CG20 two months ago at Radio Shack. It truly is a great camera for the value, and its digital image stabilization does function reasonably effectively at typical focus. &#13If you’re a novice (as I am), Sanyo xacti cameras will call for a bit of a mastering curve

I am operating on a quite new iMac. You can get the CG10 for around 0 now, unbelievable value. . The same clip in 1080p is 40-50 megabytes and possibly as well huge to resize for email. As suggested by other individuals, I am using a class 6 SDHC card. When Sanyo released the CG20, the primary improvement was going from 30 fps 720p video to 60 fps 1080p video. The camera is fantastic. The videos I have taken in the highest HD (1080) are naturally significantly greater files, but they don’t appear to perform fairly proper with Quicktime. I already owned a Flip MinoHD, but I was disappointed by its limitations–there are no settings to speak of you can play with, and of course, it is not a nonetheless camera. Once again, to my eye I can’t see a lot big difference amongst 720 and 1080. The exact clip recorded in 720p would seem much better, quite stable, and just as clear to my eye. My aim was to come across a compact camera which would take each substantial definition video and take substantial good quality even now photographs with a constructed in flash. I initially purchased the Sanyo VPC CG10 after reading through a number of sterling evaluations on Amazon, notably by Rolla Gravett and Juan. When I play the 1080 movies in Quicktime there would seem to be some jitter and unsteadiness. Also the viewing screen in the CG20 is a little bit smaller than the CG10. Overall, I feel the Sanyo CG10 or CG20 are definitely the ideal acquire for the funds, a amazing camera that you can and will take anywhere you go. I also discovered that when I played the 1080 clip with VLC media player, it played far better than with Quicktime without any distortion. For e mail purposes, I use MPEG Streamclip to resize my movies. The CG10 did all of that. This parallels my encounter with HD televisions, wherever with the exception of BluRay DVDs, the picture on my Panasonic 50 inch plasma Television (720) is as crisp as any image I have seen with a 1080 Tv. Usually if I take a 20-30 2nd clip in 720p it is about 15-20 megabytes. I can resize that clip with Streamclip down to about 2-three megabytes with out losing virtually any clarity, as a result I can e mail it simply. Now that I have both cameras I am a little disappointed with the 1080 video

USERS REVIEWS:

I’ve employed increased-end ProSumer camcorders for a although and almost every other generation of video camcorder given that 1980. I not too long ago utilised a Sony HC3 HDV handheld but gave that to my daughter when I got this HV30.&#13

The HV30 has a fantastic picture and all that. So I believe I will focus on what’s either truly cool, or a bit off-placing for a purchaser.&#13

Actually Cool:&#13
Video good quality is the greatest you can uncover on today’s one-chip HDV camera. Some 3-chip cameras have a greater color depth but several three-chip cameras in fact have a worse image. They did a great occupation.&#13

It plays other Canon HDV tape. I own and use a XH A1 three-CCD canon HDV digital camera and the HV30 plays its tapes even far better than the XHA1 appears to. That is great simply because I can save the A1′s guts for a handful of much more many years.&#13

It has virtually every output port you could wish for (nowadays). HDMI, Component (yes Component!), Composite, USB and Firewire. Its really full.&#13

It worked with Apple FinalCut Pro without having any problems. I cannot even get he XHA1 to work with it without having screwing close to with it for a whilst.&#13

It has a mic input jack which Podcasters enjoy, but I and other have been acquiring trouble with it. I feel Canon did not make a basic mic jack but some type of phantom powered mic this or that, which hobbyist would not really use. So to make it operate, and this is the tip, you have to go into the menu and turn on an choice, then go into a diverse menu and modify the acquire and/or volume. Oops, possibly this really should be a “not so cool” item.&#13

The Not so Cool.&#13

The ergonomics are poor. My hand doesn’t experience comfortable holding it no matter how I modify the hand strap. I’ve in no way had this situation with any other digital camera. &#13

The Record start/cease button is in the incorrect place. They put their goofy “joy stick” appropriate in which a person’s thumb falls while holding the camera, so you happen to be instinctively pushing on the joystick instead of the start/stop button whilst filming. The worse part, the Joystick is actually crap as an interface element.&#13

Noisy digital camera. The camera makes noise when you move it (shake it) it tends to make noise when you zoom and it makes a ton of noise when you insert or eject a tape. &#13

Poor image when filming movement. If you happen to be filming a scene and you move the digital camera, you are going to get streaking of the picture. Why? I feel/assume its due to the fact in contrast to Canon’s fantastic D-SLR cameras in very low light, their video gear does not have the reduce ISO (reduced light) capability that Sony’s or everyone else has. Not positive why, but it looks to be a constant theme with Canon. Thankfully it has a built-in light valuable for those birthday parties but not significantly else. &#13

The Bottom Line&#13

For the beneath 0 it costs, its really worth it if you are filming your vacations, holidays, birthdays and whatnot. &#13

If you happen to be a podcaster and want a thing with every single connection acknowledged to man, its much more than really worth it for the HDMI and mic jacks alone.&#13

If you want you could afford the Canon XH A1 or better and want practically as great a image, this is the camera for you.&#13

If you simply want a tape drive for your XH A1, this is really more affordable than a commercial CANON HDV tape drive. &#13

The bottom, bottom line is Sony had lost its way and CANON’s HV30 is the present champ in the hand-held HDV camcorder race. I like sony better, but I don’t like finding nickeled and dimed to death. You buy the Canon HV30 and you are going to be pleased with the final results.

I rate the image good quality, colour good quality, reduced-light capability, white balance all exceptional. The zoom manage is a tiny close for my fingers and I discovered myself holding the camera less firmly (ie with the suggestions of my fingers rather than my complete hand) which would be wearisome on a extended shoot, but tripods are nevertheless the greatest way to shoot video for constant photos. On the other hand the anti-vibration correction would seem to support a lot. &#13

The total package is great, not excellent and includes a battery with a nice make contact with protector that does not look like it will fall off (unlike the protector plate on the Elura and Optura that has to be taped on simply because it is so loose.) The plate keeps the battery from discharging on the keys in your pocket or bag. It also incorporates a charger which will also operate the camera with out the battery, which is extremely handy. This is only good, because it will not charge the battery unless of course it is in the camera, so you can’t charge while shooting with an additional battery.&#13

The package also includes a remote manage (see over) that frustrated me the initial time I utilized it and looks to be of marginal utility. Even so, all of the minor troubles with the package can be remedied with an add-on accessory. The camera is what does the perform and it is excellent.&#13

I’ve had this camcorder only one particular week. It was a active week with kids graduation and parties and night club rock concerts on the video agenda but I discovered a lot buying for this camera and using it all week, so possibly my story will aid you.&#13

First, why miniDV rather than flash, difficult disk or dvd? I previously have two mini dv cameras, a Canon Optura and an Elura. These have provided me excellent service and images that have been the envy of my Sony, Samsung, and Panasonic-owning friends. The only brand I compare to Canon is Sony (for equivalent client devices). I rejected the flash and DVD designs because the recording time is also short. DVD, in specific, is a rip-off with just 15 minutes for a $ ten disk. &#13

This sort of quick recording time is Okay if what you want is to capture one or 2 minutes of magic moments and have them immediately available to place in a player. Personally I uncover the tape just as great for instant replay on the developed-in video screen. It takes a couple minutes lengthier to rewind the tape. &#13

The difficult drive models have a recording time advantage that initially attracted me, but the transfer problem is what created me make a decision to keep with a minidv. Eventually all video has to be transfered to yet another medium to be utilised and archived. I have been transfering my minidv tapes to personal computer hard drives and dvd for a long time. &#13

Transfer is a tediuos, time-eating method that has caused me to devote a lot more upgrading my personal computer and computer software than I spent on the cameras. Yes, I can make DVDs with my video I can make YouTube videos and I can put my personal video stuff on my iPod and Zune. But it takes a lot of time to get the outcomes I want.&#13

Why tape? It really is cheap and handy. Video requires a lot of disk area to retailer the authentic and then to edit and render into other formats. I acquire the low cost tapes but I only record them when. I can carry 2 or three which give me 2 or 3 hours recording time. The true restraint is the batteries. Once I have the picture on tape I do not erase it. I can play it quickly if I want to, but the ultimate objective is to transfer it to tough disk for editing and archiving. The true godsend is the modern plethora of cheap 500 GB (now 750 and soon 1TB) external USB tough drives. The transfer time is a chore so is the indexing. &#13

Tape is patient. I can do it on my schedule. With a difficult disk, it can get complete at a time that is inconvenient to transfer but I need to have to do some a lot more shooting. Then I would have to think about the dreaded DELETE of something I shot. With tape I can postphone transfering and editing for months with no impairing my digital camera readiness. Right after I transfer, I even now have the tape.&#13

I deemed the Sony HDR-HC9 and the older Canon HV20 vs. the Canon HV30. I was tempted by the 6MP in the Sony and also by the low costs on the HV20. I saw a deal on an HV20 for 0 but it was gone before I created up my mind to settle for it. Eventually I was hunting at 9 for the Sony or 1 for the Canon. The HV30 had 30p mode and the 8 savings provided a price range for extra batteries and other goodies.&#13

So am I pleased? Yes.&#13

My wife used it at my kids’ graduation. Best colour and detail, oohs and ahs from everybody. My wife just makes use of automatic mode with the lcd screen hanging out. I took some mobile shots in my vehicle, one-handed through the…

I’ve had the HV30 for about one week now, and so far I think it’s excellent.&#13
I previously utilised the Sony TRV38, an additional quite capable camcorder. The HV30 comes in a slick, black color and is slightly smaller sized than my Sony TRV38.&#13

I have 3 young children, so I take tons of video mostly indoors. The HV30 has very very good reduced light capability. There’s some grain in the darker movies, and the shutter speed also slows (you can see the stuttering motion in the video when taking in really reduced light). However, you can nonetheless see faces obviously. A single cool thing I like about this camera is that it has a manual controlled LED light that can add about three feet of light when it really is also dark. Sony has that lux Evening Shot that operates in comprehensive darkness, but the colours alter to green and black and tends to make the eyes search scary. I choose the LED light characteristic on the HV30 more than Sony’s Night Shot.&#13

You can decide on from 5 distinct shooting modes:&#13
one. DV (normal)&#13
2. DV (wide screen)&#13
3. HDV (high definition – broad screen by default)&#13
4. HDV 24P (cinema mode)&#13
5. HDV 30P (progressive mode)&#13

Despite the fact that I do not have a high definition Tv yet, the colours in each mode looked wonderful on my typical Tv. The 24P and 30P modes give the video a “movie search and really feel” (as a result the name cinema mode), and this is cool just to have. I appear forward to shooting some thing all in 24P or 30P and showing the DVD to household/pals. I’m confident they’ll be amazed that my house videos do not “appear” like home movies…..and this is all due to the camcorder modes.&#13

You can take images employing the HV30 (saves onto mini SD card). You can use the camcorder as a stand-alone digital camera (3 megapixels), and there is even a flash on the camcorder for the digital camera. You can also take even now images whilst you’re recording video. I use this to take images whilst recording only since it really is a nice tiny additional thing to have. The photographs are not all that excellent but not terrible either. It is definitely a bonus that the two video and nonetheless photographs are constructed into this one particular camera. I would still recommend a committed digital camera to take greater top quality nevertheless photographs.&#13

I backup all my videos to DVD due to the fact it’s less complicated to watch that way. I favor the miniDV tapes since it shops “pure” video and information like the time and date. I just started out doing a little video editing making use of Sony Vegas computer software….and that seems to be a good computer software package. The final video on the resulting DVD appears fantastic.&#13

I thought I would stick with Sony goods, but so far I am enjoying the Canon HV30 and have no regrets.&#13

I will most likely be adding a lot more to this evaluation as I use the camera much more.&#13

Update April 7, 2008&#13
Nevertheless liking the camcorder because of the 24P and 30P modes. You can truly see that big difference in the photos compared to regular mode. Your video editing computer software should assistance HDV (substantial definition video) in order for you to edit any high definition stuff. Sony Vegas Film Studio doesn’t have it, but the Vegas Film Studio Platinum edition DOES have it. Make positive to get the appropriate software package if you are going to do editing.&#13

I noticed that the sound is a tiny soft. Maybe there is a setting for this, but an additional possible purpose is that the Canon’s HV30′s microphones are on the top rated of the camcorder facing up compared the my Sony TRV38′s microphones on the front facing forward. This does not bother me also considerably.&#13

There’s an automatic lens cap which helps make safeguarding the lens very convenient. No a lot more fussing with a lens cap or possessing it dangle in your videos.&#13

The package does not consist of a neck strap…you would think Canon would throw in a strap for a 0 camcorder. I bought a standard Canon strap at a regional store for . I believe this is worth to have to preserve the camcorder safe.&#13

The battery is a cheap a single and keeps a charge for about an hour or significantly less. Given that a miniDV tape is 1 hour, it would be prudent to get a better battery just to be safe and sound. Canon helps make an extended battery for about .

USERS REVIEWS:

I’ve carried out far more research on mass-marketed higher-definition camcorders than any person with a work truly should. Following weeks of combing and contemplating the pros and cons of AVCHD vs. HDV, HDD vs. tape vs. flash, I decided on the HV30, considering that I was persuaded by arguments about and examples of video good quality, specifically in reduced-light. Got the HV30 and, indeed, the picture good quality is gorgeous. The sound, even though, was a wonderful disappointment. Because I am fond of capturing quiet moments – the subtle sounds of, say, my four-month-old daughter sleeping – the substantial-pitch whine of the tape motor present in my recordings with the HV30 proved to be a deal killer. (I am effectively conscious of broad array of solutions to this difficulty, from external microphones to post-production techniques, but I’d ideally like to stay away from carrying all around further devices and I only have so a lot time to invest on this hobby – I will leave in-depth editing to these far more committed, working towards diverse ends, and/or with out family commitments.)&#13

I must have stuck to my gut instincts and bought the HF100 the 1st time all around. After sending the HV30 back (thanks to Amazon’s superb return policy), I bought the HF100 and am basically delighted. Video *and* audio are fairly darn excellent if not exceptional. Maybe a person can split hairs and demonstrate the “artifacts” present between video recordings of this AVCHD camcorder vs. an HDV one, but I just cannot see a big difference when played at typical speed. The distinction in sound recordings amongst this flash-based camcorder and comparable motorized machines is, to my ear, the two obvious and dramatic. So if you happen to be delicate to white noise or if you happen to be interested in minimizing/eliminating sounds from the recorder, believe tough about the type of camcorder you purchase and what you happen to be willing to tolerate or accommodate in terms of added gear or post-production.&#13

A final note/aside on my very own take on the HF10 vs. the HF100: I enjoy the allure of the black-physique HF10 in terms of aesthetics, but I really find the dual flash memory characteristic to be a turn-off. I’d personally rather just handle a single, removable media card. Looks like a small inconvenience to deal with each internal memory and removable cards when recording hrs of footage before transferring/backing-up to a Computer (whilst traveling, possibly?). I’d preferably swap and label cards. But this, of program, is a matter of person preference and habit I incorporate my thoughts right here in case anyone hadn’t given this aspect some consideration.

Regular Guy

I spent a extremely extended time studying little SD based mostly higher def cameras and ended up picking the Vixia HF100. This right after owning a Panasonic SD3 for a brief period final year. Soon after a complete weekend playing with the HF100 I am really pleased with my determination. &#13

My enthusiasm for deciding on this digital camera more than the competitors was Canon’s very smart determination to include a common microphone input (and manual audio controls). Why other manufacturers are removing this attribute from customer camcorders baffles me since excellent audio is such an crucial part of creating good video! Canon also includes a mini hot shoe on the best of the device, and there is previously a mini shotgun mic offered (Canon 2591B002 DM-100 Directional Stereo Microphone for HF10 and HF100 Camcorders).&#13

In several ways the HF100 is not a lot distinct from its competitors. It really is about soda can sized (despite the fact that not as tiny as the new Panasonic SD9), has no view finder, and records video onto SDHC flash memory. Flash memory is so low-cost proper now that spending the added income for the HF10 (with the on board storage) actually is not worth it. &#13

VIDEO Top quality &amp Options&#13
Outstanding and steady with other cameras in its class. Color high quality is wealthy and possibly a little over-saturated (as most client cameras are) but there are settings to wind back the saturation a bit (like switching into cinema mode). Artifacts are minimal but bear in mind that AVCHD is a highly compressed video format. Individuals looking for the absolute best quality in a buyer camera will want to look at an HDV tape based resolution. There are settings for manual white balancing as well. &#13

Low light efficiency is so-so.. Gets a bit grainy but you can make adjustments to compensate both in frame rate and shutter/aperture settings. There’s also a mini-video light that can be turned on but it will not have room-filling array to it. &#13

The camera has many video top quality options but you’ll want to decide on the highest high quality as it’s not on by default. I am getting about an hour of video on an 8 gig SD card in the highest top quality mode. &#13

The digital camera also includes three frame rate choices: 60i, 30p, and 24p. All of these are processed at 60i so you will want an editor that can get rid of the pulldown for genuine 24P. &#13

BATTERY Lifestyle&#13
Like every single other digital camera in its class, the incorporated battery is pretty lousy. It costs speedily but you’ll only get about an hour or so of recording time. Canon does make an extended battery which I strategy on purchasing soon. &#13

CONNECTIVITY &amp EDITING&#13
I am a Mac guy so those of you using Windows will have to comment under on your accomplishment with it. On the Mac side the two iMovie ’08 and Final Reduce Pro 6 identify video from this camera even if I am just popping the SD card into my USB card reader. &#13

If you are coming from the HDV tape-based globe, capturing video from an AVCHD camera requires a little lengthier than you are going to be employed to. I’ve found multiplying the authentic video length occasions two is usually about the length of time it takes to capture with iMovie on my Mac Pro (I have not timed Final Cut’s conversion but but will update this assessment quickly). I’m confident this will increase more than time as computer systems and software program get more quickly, but don’t anticipate immediate gratification when you’re prepared to bring some video more than to edit. &#13

CONCLUSION&#13
I bought this digital camera to supplement some of the function I do shooting HDV video on a ‘prosumer’ Sony HDV digital camera. If you happen to be significant about making HD video you may well nonetheless want to consider an HDV tape based camcorder like the Canon HV20 or HV30. You’ll get far better and more steady good quality along with almost universal editing compatibility. Those cameras transfer video back to the Pc or Mac above firewire, a normal that’s been around for above a decade. The HDV cameras can also run live video back to the Computer for editing or webcasting, one thing you cannot do presently with an AVCHD cam. &#13

If, however, you’re in the industry for a tiny flash based camera look no more. The inclusion of a mic port along with the multitude of shooting options make this a wonderful alternative for beginners and fanatics alike.

This is my 1st video digital camera and I am a geek so please pardon me if I get a small technical as I am the sort of guy who shops just by comparing specs.&#13

Prior to this, my only knowledge with video cameras exactly where those that I borrowed from close friends and family members above the many years to cover the occasional family members event – I choose shooting with a even now camera. I have been shooting with SLR’s for the previous 25 many years (all Nikons from the FM2 to the D3) so I am biased towards prints presentation and web sharing. This can make me a johnny-come-recently into the camcorder planet.&#13

2008 saw the confluence of our 1st HDTV, Canon’s release of an inexpensive genuine HD-resolution camcorder, and inexpensive flash-memory storage. So it eventually hit me that *proper now* is the time to get into recording life’s sweet moments on “tape.” (And at 16:9 1920×1080 resolution at that! I’m a geek bear in mind?)&#13

I reside in a developing nation in Asia in which new gizmos are always late to marketplace and priced 30-50% a lot more so the only way to discover what I want is to store online by specs. I’ve compared and read each and every user review of all the accessible models from Sony, JVC, Panasonic, and Canon and the lately-announced and released HF100 confident got almost everything correct on paper! I received my Amazon package 2 days ago and I’m content to report that this small gem is Exactly what I wished and expected!&#13

These are what I was looking for and which, happily, I got:&#13

one. Flash-memory based mostly recording on SD&#13
I can not deal with tape nor am I at ease with a spinning drive inside a piece of devices that I may drop. Sony’s Memory Sticks don’t fit my planet and with Transcend Class 6 16Gb SD cards priced at only , the HF100 is ideal for my workflow! (I devote 10-16hrs a day in front of a Pc.) &#13

I’ve made the decision to shoot all my materials using FX mode and a 16Gb card is great for 2hours really worth of video. (Side note: the standard BP809 battery is excellent for only about 1hr so you far better get an additional a single.)&#13

2. True HD quality&#13
I still have to get myself a HDMI cable but the component-out signal on my LCD is crisp and more than what I anticipated! To my eye, it’s as good as the prosumer-level designs that I’ve been wanting to get but can’t justify.&#13

three. Quick concentrate&#13
The focusing operates darn properly. It really is not one hundred% but it really is extremely near. And this is from a guy who’s spoiled by the quickly- and multi-point focusing of pro-level DSLR’s and lenses.&#13

four. OIS&#13
Typically operates, you gotta give it a half-2nd or so to stabilize and the LCD viewfinder is a fantastic way to balance the unit with two hands. As soon as you zoom all the way to 12x even though, I advocate making use of a tripod esp when shooting for prolonged periods of time (like stage performances).&#13

5. Output files&#13
The files are saved in MTS format and right after Googling for half an hour, I was ready to download a couple of freeware transcoders and converted a 46-2nd 89Mb 1920×1080 clip and downsized it into a 16Mb 848×480 XVid AVI which is gentler on my Mediagate MG-350 hard disk media player. I intend to archive all originals on BluRay and downsample the files to make it simpler to share, think YouTube, Windows Media Player, hard disk media gamers, iPhones, etc… &#13

6. Size and construct&#13
Yep, it is truly the dimension of soda can and very, extremely insconspicuous. It has metallic gun metal finish and, though not as aesthetically pleasing as the black HF10, it really is much better-searching than the pics on the internet. The size is a welcome adjust from the program harassment I get from overzealous mall security who thinks I am out to make a rapid buck promoting photos of mall scenes and/or architecture everytime I fish out my so-known as ‘professional’ DSLR. I shot all day nowadays and no one particular even noticed. The construct is best, like what we’re employed to assume from higher-good quality, super-miniaturized goods from Japan. For what it really is really worth, the unit I got is labeled Created in Japan.&#13

7. Consumer interface&#13
I have not read the manual nevertheless as the basic camcorder things is effortless. But I concur with the observation that the Begin/Stop and Digital camera/VIDEO RECORD/PLAYBACK switches could have been created better. I choose the Sony method where a rotating collar representing the distinct modes rings a large round red button. The on-screen menu can be much better but it’s liveable. I’m so utilized to the intuitive interface of Nikon cameras so I guess I should not be surprised that (just) some of the quirkiness of Canon’s camera interface design can also be discovered on their camcorders. For example, there are way too several clicks to get a clip deleted. I also want that scrolling through the clips is quick as browsing by means of a digicam’s thumbnails.&#13

8. Optics&#13
Primarily based on what I see on the LCD Tv, they’re wonderful! I’m a wide-angle shooter so my next buy is a .5x broad angle converter, but I am now hesitating against acquiring the models as they might not do justice…
