I purchased this primarily to be employed as a vehicle dash camera.

I attached the helmet mounting bracket to my dashboard and record my commute to and from operate each and every day.

The video is as great as you would see on cops or other police video shows, really greater than some.

There are only 3 buttons for the user interface, on/off, camera, and menu. The menu possibilities I nonetheless haven’t figured out.

But for the most aspect, you turn it on, start off/quit the video, and that’s it.

The device is waterproof and I plan to use it scuba diving and kayaking.

Its a extremely cool video recorder – really compact, comes with several mounting options, and records truly very good video.

I have only used this a handful of times so far, but I will give my very first impressions because no one else has. The gist is – the quality of the video is not excellent – but to get greater in an action cam you would have to expend three occasions as much.

I took it mountain biking and captured a couple of videos. It was largely effortless to set up out of the box – except the direction omit some actions in how to attach the mount to the camera. But for the most component it was straightforward to prepare.

The video I took was in the woods just right after sunset, so it was not surprising that the first sequence was a bit dark, and the next one was as well dark to use. But I even though it did relatively well taking into consideration the light circumstances. The camera was attached to my handlebars, so the video was predictably choppy. But all in all I would have to say it was acceptable. Nevertheless the sound was terrible. With any movement of the camera the sound is unusable.

I did not use any software program that comes with the camera. I have a Mac with OS 10.5. The manual said it only supports OS ten.4 or lower. But I have a SD card reader so I just used that to copy the video files directly from the card. I then utilised iMovie to edit them.

I assume I like the camera. The video high quality is not great, but I don’t know if there is any other action cam in the identical price range that is any better.

I mounted this camera each on my helmet and my mountain bike and took it on some singletrack adventures. I had many wipeouts where I landed on the camera or the camera directly hit the ground, and it continues to function excellent! Because it is waterproof as effectively as shock-resistant, there are no microphone openings, which implies that the sound quality is really poor. I just disabled the audio.

Overall – I was really impressed with the durability, ease of use, and all of the mounting hardware that it comes with.

The Cam does the job, December 27, 2010

This is not a high quality product, but you get what you pay for, and we wanted to get a cheaper model to try out. It takes pretty good color videos, about that of a 3-4 mega pixel camera. The operation is very simple, and it does pick up sound pretty well. If you move your head too fast it gets blurry. It is plastic and it isn’t water proof, but if you want a cheap starter head cam, that you won’t cry if it gets destroyed…. Here it is.

The POV Video Recorder is great. Very easy to use. With only two buttons it couldn’t be much easier. The video quality is very good and so is the sound, a lot better than I expected from such a tiny unit. It’s about the size of a chapstick tube. I bought this one to use mostly as a security device in hotel rooms, but now that I have it I am thinking of lots more ways to use it. I think it will be really cool to mount on my helmet the next time I go white water rafting. This is so much better than still pictures and you can just mount it and turn it on and forget it. I saw one guy that had one on a radio control airplane. The instructions are brief but complete and easy to understand. Downloading movies is easy and works without any glitches, but on my old laptop it takes a few minutes to download 30 minutes of video.
