How long does a movie have to be out for rent before it isn’t a new release anymore?
The movie Penelope just came out in the movie stores, and i want to see it, but everyone says it isn’t that good and i should wait till it isn’t new release so i don’t have to pay five dollars to see it. How long do i have to wait?

Generally 4-6 months is the standard. If the store has a agreement with a company like Rentrak it could take up to a year. Also a lot depends on how well it rents as a new release. If it’s doing well it might take a while for them to move it to stock. Hope this helps.

At least 4-6 months. Often new movie drop in price during that time and people rent other titles too.

It takes about 6 months. I hate that you have to pay more for new releases. That’s why I switched to Blockbuster Online. With the online service I don’t have to pay more for new releases and I have the unlimited subscription so I can rent as many as I want. Plus I have a few in store rentals a month which is good for my spur of the moment movie urges. There’s some good information on rental services here http://www. myireviews. com/blockbuster-online/
