Now i have read the other reviews for this dvd player. I have quite a few portable dvd players including panasonic. sony, and a couple others i wont mention. i also had a coby which i sold as soon as i could. i wont compare this to the clamshell portables that so many people own. although this is a good portable dvd player on any accord, it is one of the better tablet portable dvds. considering which ones you can choose from ( coby and rca), this is the best one. i have noticed a grainy picture on some dvd movies, but not all of them. the battery life is very adequate. i have gotten about a 2-3 hour charge and i ordered an additional battery from sony. the process for changing a battery requires a small screwdriver but it is possible. The kickstand is quite durable. at first i was worried about that, but it held up pretty well. With the carrying case, it is easy to slip it into a jacket pocket. i must say i love this portable dvd player and it is rapidly becoming my favorite. take this from a guy who owns over 8 portables. if you can find this item, purchase it quickly.

I boought this unit to replace a dead clamshell-style case while on vacation. I love gadgets myself, but I mainly bought it for my 4 and 7 year old daughters to use. They love it so much and it works so well that I will probably wind up buying a second unit. They love being able to hold the unit and have the movie close to them without having to worry about accidentally hitting the wrong button. The dual headphone jacks are wonderful! They both get headphones, and i don’t have to buy a separate splitter and crank the volume. The Sony has no problems driving two sets of headphones like most players would. It’s a sleek design that fits well in hands (even smaller ones). It’s a bit heavy, but it’s more of a solid feel than a clunky feel. The unit is very well made and charges rapidly. It has around 3 hour battery life, great for such a large, bright screen. The remote is nice and well laid out. The player can be charged by itself, or in the included charging/speaker dock. This unit is great for travel. My girls can watch it in the car or on a plane, then can listen with speakers via the dock while we are in a motel. The ONLY thing that I wish that the player had was a removable battery so that I could buy an additional one so that I could charge one whil the other is in use. That’s nit-picky, but this device is so great that you have to dig deep to find anything even remotely negative about it. It’s typical Sony quality and top-rate functionality.

I did some research on several portable dvd players before deciding on this unit. To be honest I was a bit nervous due to the mixed reviews. I’m happy to say i’m overall very pleased. The “Kick Stand” for holding it up makes me a bit nervous but outside of that I can’t find any other issues. I think the picture is great and I’ve had no glare issues at all. It was worth my money since this is not going to be my main DVD player and more for just quick trips on the train, etc.
Good luck finding one though, Sony stopped making them. The only place that has any left in stock except online is SEARS
