Update: Roxio’s “Toast” by this camera handles video pretty well. The only catch is that the camera segments files to 2 GB. These segments have to be manually connected to reconstruct the original video stream. The camera can now be used, but I still feel cheated by false claims resolution and Canon compatibility. For six months I had a camera I could not use. Poor sound quality still remains a problem .——— The included “digital video software” is only for still images, if you own a Mac. Apple iMovie 08 is simply too buggy to use. It is extremely slow, it will require Intel processors, it sets a false harvest on the video, it crashes constantly, and it is not in HD editing. You need to deal with various 3rd party software. (JES deinterlacer, ffmpeg, etc.) The video from the camera looks good, but Canon is on the resolution. It is actually 1440×1080 with rectangular pixels. I’ve had a few cases, which was blown completely watch the video with excessive contrast. The record and off until it was fixed stop. Other times, it works well with an excellent dynamic range and color quality. 24p mode is another lie from Canon. 24p mode adjusts the shutter speed for 24 fps than 30, but the video stream is 60i. You need third party software deinterlace and convert to “true” 24p.Audio is hardly usable because the microphone is pointing straight up. This represents a fantastic job recording date wind, airplanes, birds, echo, and his own breathing. What is directly in front of the camera sounds thin and far weg.Ich give this camera a very bad rating because of the deception of his functions. It is not 1920×1080, it does not have 24p, and it does not have Mac software. Simple editing in HD takes several hours and involves too much buggy software. There are many simple software for SD, but I would have bought an SD camera for much cheaper. It may be a revolutionary product, but that does not mean everything is working properly. Rating: 1 / 5

This camera has serious problems. First, if you want to burn an HD disc, which is not to say Canon, that you need their dw-1000-burners will cost hundreds of dollars and Blu-ray DVD burn. Oh, you that want to play burned disc, you need a blue-ray DVD player. Ok, so maybe you want to burn just a regular DVD? Well, then you need an Intel quad-core 16-, 2 ^ 32 GB DDRAM and approximately 4 weeks processing time. Of course, would be, why buy an HD video recorder to burn a standard DVD? Oh, you want an AVI or MPEG? Forget it! The software that comes with the camera, is absurd. First, it is full of spelling and grammar mistakes – especially if you feel sure are! Then it’s practically useless. Canon actually said to me, Sony Vegas DVD software sales for hundreds of dollars. I told them no way, and they said try iMovie 08 – of course, on a PC that is not too easy to make! And if you want support, forget it, you’re on your own. The aim of support from Canon, when I contact them I was simply to obtain the phone – not really a problem because they knew next to nothing. Oh, and you want to take a picture with the camera, you can be better, a micro-SD memory card – is that its 40 GB hard disk space, but you can not all of them for your crappy 800kb image. And when plugging into the USB, even if the battery is charged, you need the power cable in. And good luck focusing on everything in the immediate vicinity. The camera can never simply to adjust the focus continuously. Long story short, I would not pay $ 50 for this camera. Rating: 1 / 5

Compare this camera borrowed from a friend to my 3-year-old HDV-based Sony. Here is what I found: 1 – shoots great HD. Easy to use and very funktionell.2 – plug in my Intel-based iMac via USB. Transfers easy, but twice as slow as my Sony.3 – Since the format is changed so that the files flawlessly with iMovie, the result is that AVCHD is dumbed down a little, just like HDV. Side-by-side comparison of the final product (DVD made with iDVD) is that in the end they both find just about Gleiche. Also, I’m sticking with my old HDV tape-based rig and waiting for someone to come with a consumer HD camera, a format compatible with Quicktime without having to modify the files schafft. Are you listening Canon? Imagine a camera that allows me (and to drag everyone else) and the digital files in iMovie or FCP and drop and I will buy first and foremost it! Rating: 2 / 5

After reading all the positive reviews on this site and make a tonne of research, I found out, there are no really good consumer camcorders, which were published in 2007. I did not want to wait until next Yeat for a better model coz ‘I needed something for my trip next month. All the available brands and models had a few mistakes or the other. So I decided to rest for the Canon HG10 Coz’ there were some it should be noted that the lack of other cameras such as the built-in light, wind filter usw.Aber now, after a month, I am not satisfied with my Pick.Der camcorder works really well, but there is a really important function, and that “turning in slow motion, or 240 fps recording mode.” They say you can do with some editing software, but the software does not create smooth flowing slow motion clip, as we do in the movies and here on YouTube.Sony SR7 has that is fashion and many other camcorders, dass With this option, you can shoot some really cool slow smooth flowing video. Canon HG10 has only two modes 60i means. 30 fps, and the most hyped 24p.Ich was really disappointed coz of this and now that I this camera for over a month I can not go back. So if you guys are in slow-motion video, then this camera is not for you. The included software is white, the camera is very cheesy, pretty simple. I suppose they want you to spend a few hundred dollars extra and go for a good software to kaufen.24p is greatly exaggerated. I saw no great difference. I was sold from this feature, but I now realize that it is a marketing Gag was. Let this is a crucial factor for your Einkauf.Hoffen that helps this review. Rating: 2 / 5

The motion artifacts were a disappointment. I’m not a tech, but based on research, I understand the following: 1) [From United States Patent 5313280 Description] A typical television signal, when digitized, produces a stream of about 100 to 150 megabits per second (Mbit / s ) before compression. Compressed video data streams usually range from 56 kilobits per second (kbps) to 45 Mbps. The receiving codec expands or decompresses the digital signal, then converts it into an analog video format for the Darstellung.Der process of compressing and decompressing the signal represents defects, called motion artifacts in the received video image. These artifacts are easily observed when displaying the video signals. Such well-known motion artifacts are blocked (1), where the received video image is rectangular or checkerboard patterns not in the original image, (blurred 2) or smudged, which sets out the received video image edge detail lost in the original, (3) image persistence, where an old or previous image remains on the monitor, (4) volatility, where the original smooth continuous motion as a series of snapshots wahrgenommen.Für a given codec, higher compression rates (lower data rates) tend to produce more noticeable motion artifacts. For example, if a signal at 56 kbit / s compressed (a compression ratio of over 1000:1), the resulting motion artifacts are evident, observers. At the lower compression ratio (about 3:1) that produces 45 Mbps transmission, most observers do not recognize the Bewegungsartefakte.2) Canon HG10 is capable of 24 Mbit / s transmission, but for some reason limited to up to 15 Mbit / s transmission. This requires a higher compression ratio, which is in more Bewegungsartefakte.3) When inventing) Canon a) increasing the transmission to 24 Mbps, or b to a better, less lossy AVCHD codec? Why does it appear that all the ‘reviews’ here were written by the same person sporting the English and grammar skills of a 5 year old??
My favorite part is the interspersed bits of German by people named McMurtie, Bailey and…um – Rajesh Behra…all fine German names.
And, of course, “Rajesh” says – “After reading all the positive reviews on this site…” when the only reviews before his rated the camera in question a 2, 1 and 1 our of 5.
What kind of stupid, spam-laden crap is this??
