This is a very easy to use and high-end video camera from Sony. The 20-times optical zoom is surprisingly large and works in the great outdoors. The HDV is a very nice step from my DCR-VX2100 that I use for 4 + years. Just hope it can now with the outdoors. . . I am very happy. Rating: 5 / 5

These are the three cameras I purchased and returned before they are on the Sony HDR-FX7. The runner up was the Panasonic. This camera offers outstanding image quality outdoors. It has very good image quality indoors in low light. It has no XLR inputs, but the standard microphone is much better than the standard microphone on the Panasonic. I like the size (about the size of two hand-held camcorder, which is not easy to find in the pro-sumer style cameras) and ease of use. I like the video quality. Do I want to have a built-in light or light delivery for the price of this camera. I would also prefer tapeless recording, but you have got to spend an extra $ 1000-1500 to tapeless in this size camera. 5 stars if it for the same price without the band. Rating: 4 / 5
