I purchased the Sony HDR-FX7 to replace my eight year old Sony DCR-TRV900 Camcorder. The image colours are excellant and the image high quality is even much better simply because this camera can record in HD or mini DV. The microphone is also far better and you can see the stereo ranges in the view finder. You can set Zebra Lines to manually handle exposere. You can even take nonetheless photographs on a memory card even though shooting video. You can press a button and see the final handful of seconds of your last shot. I am a retired skilled video cameraman and this camcorder meets all my demands.

This is an incredible piece of gear. Get the big battery for much better balance and More than EIGHT hours of taping. Broadcast quality. You will rarely Need to have to go off “vehicle” unless of course you have particular requirements or are in a completely controlled studio circumstance where you can management lighting and motion. Pricey but worth every penny. The HD is as good as Discovery HD Theater’s, and the std. DV recording (due to the new chips) is far better then other 3-chip cameras I have owned.

I have had this camcorder for two months now and I could not be happier. The camera is fantastic indoors and out, which includes low light problems. The higher definition good quality is extraordinary, the best I have seen. I also like the modest size and light excess weight, a definite improvement more than the fx-1.
