Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R16DQ7GR1LWVT2 This little camera is a great helmet cam. With the camera in the band of my visor I have hands free recording of fishing that I am making into a series of “How To” videos for my website. The microphone picks up my voice very well with the body of the camera in direct contact with my head. Others voices are distant and generally hard to hear.Video quality is surprisingly good , the range of view is good . There is no zoom or pan and it makes really good quality video for my purposes out to 20′.The waterproof feature is what sold me on the camera and tying it to a line and hanging it from a kite to record Sailfish bites has been it’s main purpose in life.No leaks so far.The micro SDHC card is really small and the only way my computer would read them outside of the camera was with a USB adapter.

This is the best Cam I have so far.
Pro’s:
1) Excellent video – color, contrast, smoothness, sharpness etc.
2) The price is nice
3) Shockproof design
4) Waterproof to 34 feet
5) Easy one button operation with LED verification (with the lock system so it will not easily to shut-off due to the pressure under the water)
6) Large memory storage capability (up to 32GB)
7) 90 degree field of view – just about right for all around shooting
Con’s:
1) no LCD – which is not really necessary
2) Sound quality
3) use AAA batteries
Conclusion:
For a action helmet camera like this, you will never be regret to have one.

Review by E. Maalouf for 2010 Tachyon XC Micro Helmet Camera
Rating:
This camera has great video quality. It is very rugged and terrific underwater. Great camera for the price and application.
Two things to consider before buying are: Microphone/audio recording and additonal mounts for baseball cap, or headband of some sort.
The microphone is un-useable if you are trying to record a conversation, the rear cover on the camera will have to be left open to pick up any useable audio. But, if you are using it on your motorbike or skiing downhill and don’t care much about the audio, then it works great… You can add music or natural sound later…
It comes with one mount and there are no additional accessories you can purchase to mount/affix the camera to something else other than a helmet. If you want to mount it to the top or front portion of your baseball cap, it’s not so easy without some additional home made modifications… A miniature tripod with minimum adjustments (leveling for example) would have been very useful as an accessory. Since the camera itself does not have a tripod screw, you cannot mount it on your own tripod..
Another thing to consider is that when you mount the camera on your helmet or any surface such as a tripod, make sure it is leveled, or all your video will be tilted to one side or the other. You won’t know that until you finsih filming because there are no video monitoring capabilities on the camera… This is made for ruff, action packed, upside down footage where the location of the horizon is irrelevant… There are no leveling bubbles on this camera but you can level is easily with an external leveler.
Despite the above features or lack of, the camera is excellent for lots of uses. The video quality is much better than other cameras that cost more $$$ and as a whole, it feels very rugged and well made. Being able to put a 16 Gb card and record about 4 hours of video is another great feature… If you carry your lap top with you, you can instantly insert the disk and edit a video to upload to Youtube etc… Another awesome feature is that if you travel overseas, you can actually play the video on a PAL TV in a foreign country… The camera outputs either NTSC or PAL…
Let me clearify that the above list is not a gripe, just a “WISH” list… This is a great camera for the money (period).

I use this camera to go freediving in the ocean. I attach it to my mask n go. The video is really good, easy to maneuver the video or pictures. People who’ve seen my videos always complement me on them. Only thing that sucks is the audio, but I understand why and that’s OK.

Review by Bradley Hollaway for 2010 Tachyon XC Micro Helmet Camera

Received the camera today. Camera was what I expected, I’m happy with the overall quality of it. There’s always room for product improvement but for the low price they ask for this camera I feel quality passes expectations in a positive way.
A few hours after testing the camera, I had to call tech support. They answered the phone in two rings, didn’t asked for a ton of information, just what’s the problem and how can they help? They were American too!
Anyway turns out batteries were the issue and they figured it out within 30 seconds of the phone call. The tech then spent 15mins extra with me on the phone explaining some rendering techniques and the best types of batteries to use. Note: They recommend Use energizer ultimate lithium Batterys. Plan normal ones I had issues after 2 hours of recording.
I was floored, it’s rare in this day in age to be met with quality service.
I recommend this product, and i’m picky.
